We've recently discovered the beautifully bonkers writing of Ralph Lazar in his Total Mayhem series. The mini's and I loved everything about these books. From the large easy to read font and wonderfully eyecatching illustrations to the imaginative action-adventure storylines, featuring a devil-cat, wrestle scallywags a host of impossibly strange teachers, and of course main character and 11 year old hero - Dash Candoo.
In Total Mayhem 1, Dash Candoo is faced with attack by a gang of combat-ready scallywags (ninjas) and the Devil Cat intent on stealing the items they need to create a liquid to steal back the Remington-Hobbes trophy!
To foil their dastardly plan Dash and side kick Rob must use a series of wicked inventions and secret tunnels to retrieve the stolen items and save the day.
Easy to read, and full of action and humor this is a great series for readers ready to move on from short chapter books but still want the illustrations to hold their interest. Fans of Tom Gates and DOWK will love Dash Candoo!
