All about resilience

Writer's picture: The Book WhispererThe Book Whisperer

Love and loss are a part of life, but loss can be hard to understand at any age, but especially for children.

This lovely picture book tells the story of a boy who loves adventure, he sailed oceans, climbed mountains and battled dragons.

Until one day he comes across a broken rainbow. Lovingly he gently carries the rainbow home and repairs it's tears and missing pieces, colouring in the faded bits and together they go on incredible adventures, but slowly the rainbow shrinks and fades until eventually it disappears altogether.

The boy is broken hearted at the loss of his friend, but slowly learns to llove life and go on adventures again, until eventually a reminder of his friend appears helping him to remember all of the good times they had together.

This book is a beautifully illustrated simple story of empathy, friendship, loss and hope that will help children navigate the journey of loss and acceptance, understanding that even though their loved one is no longer with them - they are still strong, brave and fearless and that the memories will always be with them and live in their hearts.
