Thank you for the magic...

Today whilst checking out books in the library there was a lovely moment of magic. As I opened the book to scan the barcode there, inside the cover was the donation label and message from the Author @andyjshepherd, who had donated the book for our school, along with a postcard and message for our Wall of Inspiration.

'Look!' I said to the child checking it out, 'This book was sent to us by the actual author!', and we read the message inside together. How special she felt to be holding a book that the Author had held, signed and sent especially for us. Showing it to her classmates with a beaming smile.

It is sometimes these small moments that make my day. This Author (along with other

kind supporters over the past year), had taken the time to show support to a library which was under development. Trying to improve and expand to create a living culture of Reading for Pleasure. It may not seem like a big thing, but in a world where Government funds libraries in prisons but NOT in schools - it's gestures like this that make the difference. Every time I open a book and see a donation label inside it, that's another little buzz of joy.

So thank you, to every Author who has sent a book, a book plate, a postcard, a bookmark. Who has responded to a tweet (oh the sheer joy of my first tweet response from a real author - I was actually squeaking lol). Who has helped to spread the joy of reading, and indeed for producing the books that we love, we see you - and we appreciate you xx
