Where the World Turns Wild is a beautifully written and balanced Dystopian tale of adventure and love. Juniper and her brother Bear live in a sterile walled city where nature has been banished. Due to a tick borne illness released by the Re-Wilders, a group of people who wanted to 're-set' the world and allow nature to flourish once again, the remanants of humanity must live in grey colourless walled cities, where nature and all reference to it is banned.
With immunity to the disease in their blood, the siblings long to escape back to the wild, and find the mother who sent them to the city so long ago. On their challenging, and at times dangerous journey, the siblings discover their true inner strengths, and a respect for both each other and the new wild around them. The main characters are beautifully written and I love the exploration of their relationship as it grows and changes. They weave their way into your heart so that you cant help but live every aspect of their journey with them.
This is a carefully and skilfully crafted tale, that not only children 9+ but also adults will love, and is my top read of 2020 so far. I may even read it again and I almost never do that! :)
